July Morning Sydney based rock band photo shoot at the world's worst waiting area

About

Eora/Sydney rock band July Morning straddles the spaces between prog/art-rock, indie and folk. The band combines its eclectic influences and artistic ambitions to create visceral and exploratory music that incites the mind as much as it rattles the spirit.

July Morning's members grew up on a rich diet of heralded dad-rock, especially of the British variety - think The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and Genesis. But they expanded their tastes when picking up their instruments to articulate the outrageous sounds in their heads. Consequently, the band is equally drawn to writing complex epic-length pieces, heart-wrenching ballads, social and political dirges, and frenetic post-punk freak-out jams.

But the band is most interested in synthesising the sum of these parts into a meaningful whole. July Morning exists to bring listeners an introspective and original blend of music to make you both feel and think.

The band toiled away in the studio in 2025, recording a swathe of material, and in 2026 they are releasing it to the world and taking to the stage to share their special message and sounds connect with fans.

Our debut album The Colours of Darkness, out April 17th

Our debut full length album, The Colours of Darkness, is available now. The Colours of Darkness is a 'loose' concept album, driven by personal experiences, about living with and overcoming despair, and all the challenges in ‘being here’ in our shared modern world.

The Colours of Darkness has been depicted as “an eclectic and visceral journey through themes of despair, isolation, family, relationships, and finding inner strength”, with Happy Mag describing the album as proof that “true artistic ambition is alive and well in the Sydney rock scene, offering a visceral reminder that even in the darkest shades, there is validation and strength”.

You can buy the album now on 12" vinyl, CD or digital download through our Bandcamp page.

Recorded between October 2024 and November 2025, 'The Colours of Darkness' features ten tracks, including previously released singles “Upper Hand”, "Beacon", "Force of Nature", and "The Canary Song."
